Role Purpose

To be a friendly face to welcome and support people attending the Functional Fitness MOT community hub, providing refreshments and assisting guests to participate in the service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Welcoming people when they come in for their fitness MOT or drop in to speak with us.

Making teas and coffees

Chatting with people

Supporting people to fill out registration form if needed

If you're friendly, enjoy talking to new people and can help out every week, get in contact.

The Functional Fitness MOT scheme has key benefits for older people including contributing to fall prevention, maintaining independence and the ability to do everyday tasks and improves confidence to build strength and stay safe actively. This volunteer opportunity helps achieve these outcomes for the people who attend.

What skills do I need?

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

A friendly and approachable manner

Able to communicate effectively with older and sometimes vulnerable people

An understanding of the effects of social isolation and the importance for healthy living in older people

A commitment to equal opportunities

Person Specification

Good listening and communication skills (essential)

Reliability and trustworthiness (essential)

Patience and sensitivity (essential)

Volunteers must be over the age of 18, willing to undertake a DBS and mandatory training and willing to make a regular weekly commitment.

In return you will receive training and ongoing support and invitations to social events.
